Welcome to DoveReleases.com...
White Dove Releases have long been recognized for centuries as
a symbolic ritual for couples to insure a strong, pure, peaceful,
chaste and loving marriage. Because Doves are devoted and dedicated
to their mates, couples wish that the love of the dove be bestowed
upon them as the dove is released with its mate. From this age-old
tradition, comes the Dove Releases of today.
More than anytime in history, today's Dove Releases are done with
the doves health and safety in mind. Dove handlers know that only
Rock Doves should be used for Dove Releases so they will know how
to return to their beloved homes, otherwise known as lofts. This
insures that doves with no homing ability will not be released out
in the wild where predators may catch them. A safe Dove Release
will never be done within one hour of sunset, at a night wedding,
in poor weather conditions, released indoors or shipped for self
releases. The safety of these birds are of the upmost concern to
their handlers and those who request a Dove Release at their special
event.

These birds LOVE to fly! Some people may think it's cruel to make
the birds fly so far. Actually, most dove releases are only done
within a 50 - 60 mile radius of their homes, rarely is it any farther.
Since Rock Doves fly between 40 - 50 miles an hour, the birds are
typically home within an hour to an hour and a half of their release.
This time varies, depending on how much sight-seeing the doves want
to do on their way home! Seriously! Dove Handlers know that the
birds will fly around their loft for at least that amount of time
each day - sometimes longer and often twice a day! So a Dove Release
just provides the birds with a little excitement and exercise. It
does not harm them in anyway! The birds are very excited to fly
and many birds can be taught to load themselves into baskets.
Dove releases today are a beautiful, elegant and symbolic addition
to any wedding, if they're done with the doves safety in mind.
